Episode 01: Vision and Heart Behind Behold Women

TRANSCRIPT
We start off talking about what Behold is, and what the vision is for it:
“Behold is a dream that I’ve had for awhile - it’s just, it was one of those God things, where a few years ago that word was really pointed out to me in scripture. And then the Lord just kind of developed and grew it into what He wanted it to be. But the heart behind it is for Behold to be a community of women for women. Women from all backgrounds and ages, coming together to be encouraged and empowered to transform the world around them and be all that they are called to be.”
“I want to see women encouraged and empowered to step out in their god-given callings into the spheres of life He has placed them. I want to see women grow into all that God created them to be. I want to see women hungry for the Word and standing on these pillars of their faith in an unshakeable way.”
“The tagline for Behold is - Behold, Believe, Become, Transform. And the heart behind this is that when we behold Jesus and behold Him it deepens our faith and grows that root system down deep, and from that we believe He is who He says He is and from that we become the women He has called us to be and from that, we become women who transform the world around us and glorify him in all.”
“I want to see a generation of women found in the word of God and whose lives are grounded in the authority of scripture over them. Behold ideally will be a place where women will be unafraid of walking in the calling that God has for them with their lives grounded in scripture and rooted in the word, with their hearts set on Jesus beholding him.”
“I think for so long women have been told how to act, how to be, and how their faith should look. We joke about it frequently - but these picture perfect devotional nook pictures on IG and these themes of “we’re beautiful” - I think there's a time and space for them, but I also think there’s so much more. And if we behold Jesus, there’s this cap that comes off. And allows women to come back to this question of - well, who am I, what does Jesus speak over me?”
“Women were the first to behold the risen Christ, and that’s a scripture we can easily gloss over when we talk about women in the bible. But coming back to this scripture there’s such a profound revelation there. There’s such a beautiful gift there. He invites us to behold him, to get to know him in all areas, spheres and walks of life.”
“The heart of Behold is for the CEO, the stay at home mom, the high school graduate, the person trying to figure out their life, the person who was saved 8 days ago to the person saved 80 years ago. It’s for any woman called by God.”
At 07:40, we talk about the journey towards starting Behold.
“My journey to starting this started when I got saved, it was just a God dream that I had early on. God’s been developing me since I said yes to Him.”
“No matter what’s spoken over me, His identity is what I live in. Women get told through so many different avenues who we should be, how we should act, what we should and shouldn’t do, etc. And while sometimes I wanted to rebel, I really fell prey to that identity that was spoken over me by others. Coming to know Jesus was like this awakening and through that learning what He spoke over me and what He called me.”
“Jesus opened my eyes to all that I could be, and I want to be a person that helps facilitate or encourage that in other women. I want to see women be all that they can be. I want to see women encouraged and empowered to step out in their god-given callings into the spheres of life He has placed them. I want to see women grow into all that God created them to be. I want to see women hungry for the Word and standing on these pillars of their faith in an unshakeable way. Because that’s been my journey.”
“I want to foster a community that wrestles with the big questions, the heavy ones and the uncomfortable ones. A community that pursues Jesus with everything they have.”
At 15:10 we talk about what will be available to women through Behold.
“Very practically - resources, articles, encouragement, podcasts, etc.”
“But what I’m hoping is available is an equipping, a stirring, an encouragement. A place where women can be empowered to behold Jesus, become like Him, and transform the world around them. I’m hoping a community of women pursuing the heart of God will be available to women through Behold. That they can believe in the God dreams He’s spoken over them.”
“The heart is that it would be multiple women contributing to the blog and podcast, that it wouldn’t just be me. I recognize that there are certain things others have been through that I’ve never walked through, and that’s the beauty of community. We can encourage and empower one another through our histories.”
At 20:10 we talk about the best way to engage with Behold.
“I think the best way to engage is on the website, podcast and social media - and the newsletter! Especially on the website, I’ll be reading comments and engaging with them. And always social media. I’m figuring out a healthy way to keep engaged there while maintaining boundaries with social media because it’s all too easy for me to slip down those social media spirals. But I definitely want to be there for anyone in that capacity as well!”
Are there opportunities for women to serve/partner with Behold? (20:45)
“In the future, 100%. Something we’ve been talking about launching is a missions component called Behold Women: In the Field. We want to engage in local and global missions because we want to tangibly be the hands and feet of Jesus through serving others.”
